Our Team
Brian Guevara
Our instructor Brian Guevara has been training since 2017 and loved the sport/art immediately. Raised in the DMV, Brian competes at the highest level of grappling taking on the biggest tournaments that submission grappling has to offer, Placing at some of the most highly notable tournaments, competes repeatedly demonstrating a skill set that works in real life situations. Brian trains under the legend Greg Souders out of Standard jiu jitsu.
Brian’s focus is to take everything that the submission grappling scene has to offer as a full time athlete, to make a stand and make the DMV recognized through his hard work and discipline while trying to instill this exact work ethic to his students.
Brian saw a lack of real learning when it comes to kids actually learning the sport of mixed martial arts, he trained everywhere in the DMV seeking style or methods that would help him gain insights but instead it only caused to notice how the kids programs are only just fun activities full of drilling without any proper development or if anything slow development towards kids learning, so his goal is to provide actual skills to be developed and provide the best kind of knowledge so that they can actually LEARN while making the environment as safe and fun as possible.
Sid Tavolaro
Sid is a purple belt who recently moved to the DMV to train under Coach Greg Souders at Standard Jiujitsu. He has been training in jiujitsu for 7 years, and martial arts as a whole for the past 14 years. Sid competes regularly at local and world level competitions at the highest level he can. Prior to joining Brian at Cochabamba, Sid coached the kids program at Finishers MMA/10th Planet Bethlehem alongside Zach Maslany.
Sid has a passion for teaching and working with the next generation of grapplers. He wants to see the kids he coaches not only succeed on the mats and in competition, but in other aspects of their life. Alongside Coach Brian, he wants to build a culture that promotes skill development for the students but also an activity that teaches focus, work ethic, and discipline
